四字熟語 are sorted by Kanken level for convenience, and select frequency dictionaries are applied so you can see what might actually appear in everyday Japanese or certain media.
Primary definitions come from dictionaries derived from 北澤篤史先生’s two excellent sites; https://idiom-encyclopedia.com/ & https://proverb-encyclopedia.com/,
whereas the glossary aggregates every dictionary I could get my hands on. When a dictionary lacks a term, the entry falls back to the live 辞典オンライン page. All entries are factual and backed from native sources.
