Hey everyone! 👋

I just published Yomitan MCP Server, a bridge that connects AI agents (like Claude Desktop, Cursor, or OpenClaw) directly to your local Yomitan dictionary databases! 📘✨

With this, you can let your AI assistant instantly look up words, kanji, and definitions using your exact Yomitan dictionaries, completely offline and instantly via Native Messaging.

Features:

- 🔍 Instant Lookups: The AI can query definitions, readings, parsing, and tags using your local Yomitan setup.

- ⚡ AI-Optimized: Native Yomitan responses are huge (HTML/CSS structures). We aggressively strip out rendering metadata and extract only the semantic text, reducing token usage by ~90% so it doesn't clutter the AI's context window.

- 🎴 Anki Integration: The AI can even generate populated Anki fields based on your Yomitan templates.

- 🔒 100% Local & Private: All lookups run locally on your machine.

Installation & Usage (via npx):

You don't need to clone the repo, just add this to your MCP client config (e.g. claude_desktop_config.json):

```json
{
"mcpServers": {
"yomitan-mcp": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "yomitan-mcp-server@latest"]
}
}
}
`
*(Make sure "Enable Yomitan API" is turned on in your Yomitan advanced settings!)*
