Understanding novels as a Japanese learning tool
Novels provide rich vocabulary, complex sentence structures, and cultural insights that deepen your understanding of Japanese. Reading novels exposes you to natural language patterns and formal writing styles that are essential for advanced language proficiency.
Novels can be found for download in websites like Nyaa (Torrent), Anna's Archive, Lolibrary, Boroboro, Syosetsu, etc

Helpful tips
Keeping track of how long you've read in your reading sessions and the amount of characters read is a nice way to see how much hard work you have put in. Seeing the numbers go up is a good source of motivation. You can toggle "Enable Statistics " on in Ttsu Reader's settings, under "Statistics tab". This will make a icon appear in the bottom left corner of the screen and there you will be able to see chars read and time. I also recommend toggl tracker for tracking time and Misuzu for manually tracking characters as alternative options! Bookmeter is also a great website that works like Anilist but for books.
Reading more is the number #1 answer for getting good at reading and increasing your reading speed. The more you read, the more you will learn words and get used to it and the faster you will become. On reading speed, by reading consistently you will naturally increase it, do not stress about low reading speeds if you are not reading consistently every day.
This is very important and will allow you to read more and consistently every day. Setting an amount of hours per day or an amount of characters and setting it as a priority in your day is a very good way of reading constantly and slowly turn reading into a habit. I extremely recommend it and you can also use pomodoro timers to help you stay focused. Ex.: (50min of reading and 10min of break)
